DEADWOOD FUND GRANT AWARDED TO SPINK COUNTY
On April 11, 2014 Spink County was awarded a $10,000 matching grant from the South Dakota State Historical Society Deadwood Fund Grant. The funds were to be used for Courthouse Tuckpointing Stabilization. The project was initially set to be completed by October 1, 2014, but with the contractor unable to meet this deadline an extension was requested and granted for the work to begin the Spring of 2015. The work began the beginning of April 2015 and was completed by Heinemann Restoration, Inc. by the beginning of May 2015. The total project cost was $62,300. Below are before and after pictures of the North elevation of the Courthouse that show some of the more visible aspects of the tuckpointing work: power-washing was done to remove surface stains and repainting was done on the five metal panels on the 3rd floor of the elevation.
